Baby/Pregnancy Update: 36 weeks

We're down for the count people. My due date is less than a month away and it is getting exciting, so I thought I'd do a quick baby/pregnancy update because life is getting to be pretty exciting around these parts.

So...on my Dad's birthday post I had pictures of the most recent ultrasound, just a reminder of those stats.

Baby Girl at 35 weeks
Weight around 5.5 lbs (estimated birth weight 7.5-8 We shall see) :-D
Fluid Levels: Great
Movement: Great
Heartbeat: "Perfect"
Cord: Double Loop
Hair?  Why yes I think it does look she has some dark hair.  I couldn't be happier.  If that all disapears in the next month....well I'll still be so happy, but I'm hoping for some cute dark hair on this girl :-)

Non-Stress Test
Yesterday I went to Timpanogas hospital to take a non-stress test since my little miss has the cord looped twice.  I'm down to having my weekly appointments for this next month, but I'll be having a non-stress test every week unless the cord gets undone.  The test went great.  I was just hooked up to a machine that monitored her heartbeat, my contractions, and then I also had a blood pressure cuff to check my blood pressure.  The nurse said my scores couldn't have been better.  My blood pressure was great, her heartbeat was averaging around 150 with some upward movements that indicate she gets good oxygen and brain waves? I didn't quite understand what the nurse meant but it was really positive so I'll take it :-)

It was neat to be there at Timpanogas because that's where I'm going to be delivering.  Tim and I have taken a little tour there before but it was neat to get to check out the vibe of the place and talk to the nurses.  All of them seemed really nice, so I think we'll be in good hands.  One thing that was neat as well, as I was being monitored the nurse who helped me (Kristy) showed me the monitor where the screen was split up into smaller screens showing all the women who were being monitored while I was there.  My screen was just straight lines at first because I didn't have any data but then there were the little waves and bumps as we monitored her heart beat  AND get this...little waves showing MY contractions! Yeah. I'm having contractions.  They're tiny-especially compared to the big spikes I saw that some of the other women were having-but they're there. And I had no idea.  So that was kind of neat.  One month to go but my body is getting ready.  AH! Exciting!

Also happening
  • Here is me and my 36 week baby bump

  • My last day of work is next Friday (Oct 19th).  It's bittersweet-I've been at this job for two years-my first real job-but I am very ready to have a break and prepare for our baby girl to come.
  • Tim and I had our last Hypnobirthing class on Tuesday.  Also bittersweet, but mainly bitter...? That sounds bad but I mean bitter only because I loved those classes SO much and I wish we had more of them.  It's sweet because it means we're getting closer to meeting our baby, but really...every class was so wonderful and uplifting. 5 classes, 1 per week, around 2.5 hours per class-and they FLEW by.  It was really wonderful to have such calming, informative experiences and taking the classes from Tim's cousin Hannah was awesome.  Again-I'll do a more in-depth post on Hypnobirthing but yeah-we had our last class and they will be missed because they were so wonderful.
  • A couple of my awesome coworkers took the baby bump picture for me.  They were kind of hoping that I have my baby today.  I know!-Definitely too early...however, they think it'd be so fun if she was born today because her birthday would be 10/11/12.  Well...I just wanted to point out that my baby's due date is November 10th...which if you're anywhere else in the world besides the US they write the date as day/month/year which means....my baby is due on 10/11/12! So that's neat :-)

  2. I'm not pregnant, but I was reading the other day on a popular blog (A Cup of Jo) about hypnobirthing. Sounds fascinating! When the time does come for little kiddies of my own, I definitely want to try it out. Anyway, you look great and congrats again!!!

  3. I had to go do those stress tests too! Except I went twice a week because I am diabetic! But the nurses there were awesome. So so nice and great! Good luck with everything!

  4. I'm SO excited you're doing hypnobirthing. We finished our class a few weeks ago, and I just want to preach to the world that it's amazing. But I thought I should have my baby first and then tell people--need the proof, you know? :) It was a great class for birthing in general I think.

Also, our instructor told us about how she asked a midwife how often the cord was wrapped around the baby's neck at birth, and the midwife told her 40-50% of births are like that. It's usually loose though (they have a lot of cord to play with!), and the midwife slips it over the baby's head when it comes out. It's only the tight ones that are concerning. Just thought I'd pass that along. Everything is going to be so great for you!
