At my 39 week NST (non-stress test) appointment my little girl was moving so much that she wasn't registering on the monitor very well. Sometimes when she'd go off the monitor it looked like her heartbeat was dropping pretty low. My doctor said that the NST was "variable" and thought that she might be having some decelerations. He sent me to the hospital I'll be delivering at to take a longer NST to see if I really was having some d-cels. If I was then he wanted to induce me that night. He talked to me about being induced (I was 39.5) weeks, but I was kind of freaked out by that. Basically...I just felt like I had so much left to do (we were going to be painting the nursery that night for FHE) and I had just assumed she would go at least to her due date, if not past it. So I asked him for me to just go take the longer NST and that if I was having some d-cels to talk about being induced after that. If everything was fine I would rather wait.
Well the NST went great. The nurse that helped me at the hospital said that my little girl was actually the best baby they were monitoring at that time. Her heart beat etc...were great. So thankfully...I didn't have to be induced that night.
Due date and beyond....
My due date was on Saturday (November 10th). I have been having quite a few contractions but nothing too regular. I still feel really great. I don't feel depressed that my due date has come and gone. I kind of just expected to go over since I'm a first time mom and I know that happens a lot. Also...the way I figure it-to a point-she is better to keep developing inside of me instead of outside of me. And once she is here she is here so I'm not trying to rush her; she will come when she's supposed to.
Yesterday at my 40 week appointment she did great on her NST, the chord is still wrapped twice but she has still been moving a lot so it's nothing to really worry about. For the past two weeks I've been dilated at a 2-so not a whole lot. During the NST I was having some really big contractions (on the monitor-I wasn't really feeling them) that were about 10 to 15 minutes apart and pretty regular. So that was kind of exciting. Yesterday I woke up feeling a little different too; I felt kind of crampy along with the random contractions I could feel. So...that's all good news. Basically, I'm progressing and she is on her way here whether it takes a couple days or so.
I have another appointment on Thursday to see if I've progressed any farther. Depending on that I'll be induced either Thursday night or Friday because my doctor won't let me go past 41 weeks. Which, although I would rather not be induced, I don't know if I'd want to go too much past that because I think I would start to get a little paranoid. So...the big news is...that she will definitely be here by Friday! FRIDAY! if not sooner...but I'm not sure if she will come sooner, but we will see. So people....I'm having a baby this week. I'm excited! :-D
