Within this past year I feel like I've started following a lot of blogs. After reading an article about an atheist woman who loves these Mormon, mommy blogs that give her hope, I bookmarked all of those blogs and now love them as well.
One of the bloggers, Natalie, has taken some activism when it comes to breastfeeding in public. I never had really thought about it much but after reading her posts I'm a believer that yeah...if your baby is hungry, you feed them, regardless of where it is. Now...I'm not saying that I'll be comfortable enough to breastfeed/nurse in lots of public areas when I have kids, but I think that's a good cause to be involved in. Scratch that-I think I'll be fine feeding them wherever, just probably never without a cover like she is currently doing. Anyway though today, I read an article that makes me want to be an activist too.
The "no-child ban" that I read about here has made me want to speak out. Basically, I think it's disgusting. I understand how some really fancy restaurants might not want to have children throwing tantrums disrupting their other guests and to that I say...parents are to blame. I don't think there should be child bans, but there should be parents made to take common sense courses. Children are never going to learn how to behave in public if they can't be seen in public. However, parents should know when to take their child outside. If their kid is throwing a tantrum, take them to a place where they won't disrupt other people (outside, bathroom, the car etc...). To ban children outright though seems so wrong to me. It penalizes the families with well behaved children. And in today's society people are having fewer children and later in life. Bah....it just makes me cringe. Our children are our future. If we ban them what are we to become?
So yeah...this was pretty rambly and didn't tons of sense but I had to share it for my own sake because I wanted to have this documented.
