A Great Weekend/Long update for Mom

Now that I've been working full-time for a while I look forward to the weekends SO much.
Unfortunately, they seem to FLY by!

This weekend was different though.  Tim and I both got to do tons of fun things and still get a normal amount of sleep that it felt like this weekend was great and only a little too short
(all weekends are too short in my opinion, but at least this one didn't zoom past me).

Here are all the fun things we did this weekend.
1, It started off with an awesome camp-out/slumber party with my niece Livi. I wanted to have some Livi and Aunty Megs time but it was great because we got to hang out with Soph for a couple hours too while Sian and Damon went to a ward Christmas party.  After they picked Soph up though, it was just fun time with Livi.  We set up a tent in the living room and "camped out".  We watched movies, stayed up late, colored, and had a rousing pillow fight.  After the pillow fight Livi was really quiet...I thought for a second that she might have gotten hurt, but nope...she was just way tired and wanted to sleep.  I made yummy Dutch Babies (a slumber party tradition at the Flynn's house that I think I want to continue), and then after breakfast we had a fun dance party and practiced hand-stands.
Then we left to go do our second fun activity of the weekend.
2. BOWLING!!! It was Livi's first time going bowling and she was really excited.  We went to the Jack and Jill lanes in Lehi and it was a great place.  Really nice and spacious-awesome facility.  We all had a really good time; mainly because none of us can bowl.  In fact, Damon was the only one who scored above 100 with a 115 and the second place went to Sophie.  Yup...my two year old niece.  She got a 95 and really...I don't remember the order between Sian, Tim, Livi, and me...but it doesn't matter too much since Soph beat all of us!
One of the main highlights of that bowling though was Sophie's victory dance.  She got on the floor and kind of did a "around the clock" (for all you tappers)/ break dance type move.  It was Uhmazin.

3. Tim's parents had called us earlier that day to see about going to the BYU combined choir Christmas Concert.  They get tickets for it every year and this was my third year going with them.  A nice little family tradition. Before we went to the concert though they took us out to Olive Garden.  YUM! I just don't think Olive Garden can fail.  It never disappoints. It was crazy busy like a normal Saturday night for them I'm sure...but it was fun to get to see Dan and Carol and AnnaMarie since they had all been gone for Thanksgiving.
4. Choir show. The Christmas concert was really fun...but not necessarily because of the music.  I mean....all the choirs sounded amazing, because they're amazing.  The voices are fantatsic, but neither Tim or I liked the song choices this year.  Really...either boring or  weird in my opinion, but htere were a couple of great ones.  The best part of the concert for me though was getting to see my best friend Bethany!!! AH! I've missed that girl.  It seems so silly  because she's back in Utah.  But this was the first time I'd gotten to see her all semester and it was only for a couple of minutes because I realized that she was in women's chorus and I had to track her down.  It was so great though-I really miss and love that girl.

So that was our Friday and Saturday...but Sunday was pretty legit too.
5. Elder Scott came to my in-laws ward for a baby blessing it was pretty neat.  It was really neat because you got to see him in a really loving/family member/friend kind of way.  The baby who was blessed was named Grace and her mom is the daughter of the nurse who took care of Elder Scott's wife before she died.  (did you keep up with all that?) It was really neat though.   He gave the new family an apostolic blessing.  I'm pretty sure everyone there was jealous-I know I was.  Tim and I both love Elder Scott for different reasons.  So that was a fun experience to get to see him outside of General Conference.

6. And then Sunday night Tim and I had a practice for the Christmas choir we're in.  It's been really fun getting to sing in an organized choir again.  I haven't sung in a real choir since my junior year of high school, but I loved choir and love to sing so it's been neat to brush off my old vocal chords and attempt hitting those really high notes :-) Our performance is this next Saturday night at 7 pm.  If you're able to come...I can get you the rest of the info!

I hope you all had a great weekend too.

  1. I was tired just reading all of that!
I know what you mean about weekends going by fast. I never get half of the stuff done I want to. I am not even sure when we'll get our Christmas tree up.
