FHE

My husband Tim is the sweetest, best man I know.
In our church we have one night a week (usually Monday's) that we set apart to have a family night.
We call it Family Home Evening.
Well...I'm not the best and making sure we have FHE, but Tim is really good about getting us to do it.
For Christmas this year I bought him an FHE for Newlyweds book and we decided to use it.  I have the goal to do FHE every week this year.  For our FHE we did an awesome scavenger hunt.  We had to go around our house and find objects that represent different aspects of our lives together.

The categories for what we had to find were things about:
Yourself
Your Spouse
Dating
Engagement
Wedding
Marriage
Home
Future

When Tim first said we were doing a scavenger hunt I though "Oh great.  How long is this going to take?" But then I decided I needed a better attitude-only to find out it wouldn't take very long at all.  We gave ourselves 5 minutes to find stuff, and it was so fun to run around scrambling around the house to find stuff to represent our lives together. By the end of it I wish it could have gone on longer.  Some of the things Tim chose were so sweet that it made me cry.  This was such a good FHE and  a wonderful activity.  It brought us closer, made me feel the Spirit, and helped me appreciate my husband a little bit more.  I'm really grateful that our Church has such an inspired emphasis on families and that they encourage us to do FHE. I'm also grateful for the new book I got Tim.  Seriously...I haven't looked at it, but the first activity just left such a good impression on me that I'm endorsing it here.

Enjoy our pictures from our night.  (Don't look too closely at or try to analyze our objects)

  1. Meg's, I love this post! Thank you do much for sharing it with us. You two are such a sweet couple and a tender example of a Christ-like home. We want to do better at fhe too. So far we are good at the refreshments, activity and the scriptures. We are wanting to spice things up and you have really motivated me by your precious story. Where did you find your book? Even though we have a baby on the way- there are so many fun newly we'd activities that we still would like to do. Luv you two bunches!

  2. Hey Kristi! Thanks so much for the kind words-yeah...we struggle at FHE but we're trying. I got the book off of Amazon for Christmas. I think Ben and Chanelle have it and that's where I first heard about it. It looks super great so far, I've browsed it a little bit more. They've organized the book into a bunch of sections (activities with no prep time, outside the home, for holidays, for big events, with preparation etc...). I am so excited for you and Landon! You're going to be such a great mom! Can't wait to hear more about your adventures and you're bundle of joy soon to come. Love you lots and keeping you in our prayers.
