One Month

My baby girl is one month old today.  I can't believe one month has already gone by, but at the same time I feel like I have no sense of time anymore so it really isn't a surprise.

Here's the scoop on our little papoose and her first month of life.
  1. She had lots of dry skin that Tim loved to peel off.
  2. Baby acne hit at about week 2.
  3. She had a wellness check 5 days after she was born and looked great. No jaundice (a first for the babies on my side of the family)
  4. Week four has been wonderful. A special thank you to Jerri and Matt for sharing with us the Happiest Baby on the Block DVD.  This will change your life.  It is AMAZING and has improved our sanity and amount of sleep by leaps and bounds.
  5. Her cord fell off 8 days after she was born.
  6. Her eyes are getting lighter and we think they might turn blue.  This is kind of weird for us because Tim and I both have brown eyes. Yes-she is ours. We never let her out of our sight-and even if she wasn't we'd keep her ;-)
  7. First blowout was at Auntie Siany's house. She has had some very impressive blow outs but thankfully not too many and not in any inconvenient places.
  8. She is a great eater but also a great throw-upper.
  9. At her two week appointment she was 8 lbs 5.5 oz and 21.5 inches.  She is doing really great and is healthy.
  10. Her first two weeks of life was filled with lots of sleeping and if she was ever cried it was either because she needed to be changed, burped, or fed.
  11. Week three of life was hard. She may have had a little cold and would cry for reasons other than the above three.  We didn't get much sleep that week.
  12. She is much more alert now at one month old and keeps me and her daddy laughing.
  13. She can do really funny faces, including lifting one eyebrow by itself (I had to teach myself to do that at 14).
  14. She is not quite into size 1 diapers but because we ran out of newborn size and I had a pack of size 1s we are making do.
  15. She seems like she gets longer and cuter every day and has just started growing out of some of her newborn jammies because she's too long.
  16. She loves looking at lights, which includes our Christmas tree.
  17. She  is really strong and great at holding up her head when we burp her.

I think I'll wait to read your birth story until I have my little boy in April...just trying to keep the 1st time a bit of a blur, if you know what I mean =)Anyways, love you, and I'm so happy for you guys! --Brit (Gutzman) Sproul
