Motivation

I need some motivation.  I used to be in great shape, loved sports and working out a lot, and now I find that after a day of work I just want to go home and crash.  In the winter it was an easy excuse...it's cold outside.  But now that it's getting nicer I feel my excuses aren't legitimate anymore and that I'm basically just lazy.  NOT GOOD! So...I'm trying to get motivated.

1. Does anyone have any advice on fun workouts?

2. What do you do to motivate yourself?

3. Who knows a good way to start running if you hate running?

Funny story: I was looking at overstock.com to see if they had any good exercise videos (I'm seriously tempted to buy a couple).  I came across a ton of Jillian Michaels.  HELLO! That girl is ripped and intense.  I think I'd really like to get one.  Then...I see that she has a yoga video.  I've gone to a couple yoga classes at my friends studio and LOVE IT, except that I've never done yoga before and the class is always advanced so I just try to do my best, get sore, but don't feel like I actually learn more about it...make sense?

Anyway...while looking at the reviews for the Jillian MIchaels yoga workout I came across this little gem:

"Thought this DVD might be helpful in toning myself, but she talks about things beyond the scope of just exercise. The messages are cruel to the human spirit."

Oh my goodness-HILARIOUS! I loved the comment...not sure if I'll get that DVD though.

  1. WOW, "cruel to the human spirit" is not what yoga should be. If you want good yoga DVDs Rodney Yee rocks. When I took yoga at UVSC our teacher would use these DVDs as subs when she was gone. His advanced DVD has handstands and lifts and all the crazy poses.
